Car fanatic buys iconic Monkeemobile car

Film and television car fanatic Mark Perkins, from Ascot, has picked up one of the only four known Monkeemobiles in the world – a 1967 Pontiac GTO.The father-of-three
has spent two years negotiating with a New York based company to buy the iconic vehicle.The 48-year-old property developer said: “It is absolutely brilliant and I amreally over the moon to have it.
“I had some fun over the Easter weekend driving it around Windsor and it was a great success with people and tourists taking pictures.”
The Pontiac is to be used in the Monkees UK tour as part of their 45th anniversary, starting in Manchester on May 12.
Car lovers will be able to view it at the Historics Auction House in Brooklands Museum, Surrey, from May 17-18.
Mark has also just bought a 1964 Aston Martin, similar to one used in James Bond films and already has other unique vehicles as part of his collection of 25.
They include two Flintstone’s vehicles, Del Boy’s Regal van, Batman’s Batbike and the Ghostbusters’ Ectomobile.
