Davy Jones to play in Indiantown
Davy Jones is once again taking time to give back to this rural community in a groovy fundraiser.
Jones, the front man of the 1960s rock group The Monkees, lives in Indiantown and is helping local students by singing a few songs and meeting with residents.
“He has just been so generous and gracious supporting education in Indiantown,” said Debbie Banta, a member of the Indian-town Education Coalition.
Guests are invited to bring their old Davy Jones records and posters for autographs.“One of the things that is so fun is listening to Davy Jones sing. It just brings back a flood of old memories,” said Loreen Francescani, principal of Indiantown’s Warfield Elementary, which receives money for supplies from the fundraiser.
The goal of the event is to raise money for the Indiantown Education Coalition, an organization that provides scholarships for students, provides grants for classroom supplies and funds student field trips. All ages are welcome; western wear is suggested attire.
