Memorials to honor Monkees singer Davy Jones

The heart attack that killed Monkees heartthrob Davy Jones came while
the singer was in his stable surrounded by his beloved horses.

The star’s spokeswoman, Helen Kensick, offered the detail Friday, two
days after Jones died in Florida.

She says Jones spent his final days surrounded by family and riding
horses before his sudden death.

A funeral in Florida will be private. Kensick says public services to
honor Jones will be held in New York and in England, though the
details have not been finalized.

Jones rocketed to stardom in the 1960s as a member of The Monkees.
Though their television show lasted just two years and the group
ultimately broke up, they have endured with such chart-topping hits as
“I’m a Believer” and “Daydream Believer.”

Jones was 66.

Hi Brad,

I was working with Davy on a DVD project at the time of his passing.
We had a live DVD and CD we were planning on putting out for him this
year. I posted a couple of clips that I want to share with you and
everyone on the list. We were basically done with this and Davy was
very excited about the DVD coming out.

It is truly hard to believe that Davy is gone. I spent last night with
Johnny Blair Davy’s bass player. He gave a nice little show in tribute
to Davy last night. It was a bittersweet evening but nice to share it
with friend.

Courtesy of Sitcomsonline.com: Antenna TV, which airs on 60 affiliates
across the U.S. reaching 58% of TV households, will honor Davy Jones on
The Monkees TV series beginning with a special airing of Head (1968 film
featuring the band) at 1pm ET on Saturday. Antenna TV will also air a
complete 58-episode marathon (that’s 29 hours!) of the 1966-68 The
Monkees series on Saturday, beginning at 5pm ET, and running straight
through to Sunday, March 4 with an encore airing of the 1968 film Head
at 10PM ET.

So…got an e-mail from one of my best friends from HS…apparently
she had been thinking about attending this for a while, but after the
news on Wednesday, she decided she’s absolutely going…

So…if you live in that area, there’s a nice way to honor Davy…I’m
not going, though (I live about 700 miles west of there 🙂 ), but I
do hope that they have a good quality copy to project…
