Chip Douglas knows that good, hard work is its own reward.
Douglas, who produced the latest CD by the local group Jetta and the Jellybeans, “Tell Me What You Want to Be,” learned that lesson through his work with the 1960s groups The Monkees and The Turtles.
Douglas played bass on “Happy Together,” The Turtles’ biggest hit, and he also produced albums for The Monkees, most notably “Headquarters.”
Douglas came from Hawaii as a member of the group The Modern Folk Quartet.
