From “I’m A Believer” to “Changes”: Legendary Songwriter & Producer Jeff Barry and The Monkees 1966-1970, Hosted by Andrew Sandoval

Amidst his storied career as one of the most successful songwriters of the 20th century, Jeff took on the role of producer for The Monkees, ultimately crafting their most successful album (More Of The Monkees) and single (“I’m a Believer”). Rare photographs of Jeff in studio with the group as well as archival recordings of his production process will be featured in addition to rare film clips.

Songwriter, singer and producer Jeff Barry is responsible for some of the best-loved and most recognizable songs of the Sixties and Seventies including “Hanky Panky” (Tommy James & The Shondells), “Do Wah Diddy Diddy” (Manfred Mann), “Da Doo Ron Ron” and “Then He Kissed Me” (The Crystals), “Chapel of Love” (The Dixie Cups), “Be My Baby” (The Ronettes), “River Deep – Mountain High” (Ike & Tina Turner), “Leader of the Pack” (The Shangri-Las), “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” (Darlene Love), “Sugar Sugar” (The Archies), “I Honestly Love You” (Olivia Newton-John) and hundreds more.

In addition to his chart-topping work with The Monkees, Barry produced early hits by Neil Diamond (“Solitary Man,” “Cherry, Cherry”) and many other artists. He composed the theme songs for TV hits including One Day At A TimeThe Jeffersons and Family Ties. He served as past president of the National Academy of Songwriters and is a recipient of their Lifetime Achievement Award, and was inducted with former songwriting partner Ellie Greenwich into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Andrew Sandoval is a Grammy-nominated producer/engineer who authored the definitive book on the Monkees as well as producing their concert tours and reissues for more than thirty years. Additionally, he has worked with such artists as the Kinks, Beach Boys, Bee Gees, the Band, Elvis Costello and others on the preservation and reissue of their recorded catalogs. He hosts the weekly radio program, Come To The Sunshine, on WFMU’s Rock ‘N Soul radio.
