MICKY DOLENZ TO HEADLINE 2012 ‘HAPPY TOGETHER’ TOUR
Micky Dolenz of the Monkees will once again headline this summer’s Happy Together tour. The tour also stars the Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie, the Grass Roots, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, and the Buckinghams. The 2012 dates kick off on June 15th in Clearwater, Florida and wind down on August 24th in Aurora, Illinois. So far, there are only 14 stops on the itinerary, but inside word is that more will soon be added.
Micky Dolenz says that he isn’t bothered by the ever present “Monkee” tag, mainly because he stopped reading his own press years ago: “The press, whenever they do an article, of course, they want a long line. They want something to catch your eye, and there’s nothing like the word ‘Monkee’ to do that. Y’know, I don’t really pay much attention anymore to be honest. I never read articles that have been written about me. To be honest, I never listen to interviews, I never read reviews.”
The Turtles’ Howard Kaylan says that after nearly 50 years in the business, he’s happy with the way his life and career has turned out: “It’s been a wonderful existence the way we’ve played the game. Y’know if you really love the music and you really love the entire concept of rock n’ roll and being a little slice of Americana, and adding your two cents to the tapestry, there’s no better life in the world than the one that was chosen for us.”
The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie with Gary Puckett & The Union Gap will next perform on February 12th, in Coconut Creek, Florida at the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek.
