Robosaurus, the giant fire-breathing, car-crushing robot dinosaur
known to monster-truck fans everywhere, will crank up again today for
a fearsome demonstration of its powers at Scottsdale’s 37th annual
Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event.
This year’s auction offerings run the gamut from pristine classics,
vintage cars, sports cars, muscle cars and cruisers to some real
oddities, such as a big collection of bizarre creations from the hit
cable-TV show Monster Garage, the Monkeemobile from The Monkees TV
show of the 1960s and the actual jalopy that the Clampett family used
to “move away from there” in The Beverly Hillbillies.

Hey, hey, it’s the Monkees! Here’s everything you ever wanted to know
about the first of the manufactured bands that shocked the music
industry in the 60s by generating a slew of hit records including
“Last Train to Clarksville” and “I’m a Believer.” Formed after two TV
producers placed an ad for actors to star in a new TV show about a
band clearly modeled on the Beatles, the four successful applicants
became stars in their own right. The Monkees sang their own songs, but
they didn’t play their own instruments, even though that’s the way it
looked on their TV show.

Please let everyone know that there is a different hall of fame that
The Monkees have been nominated for. It’s called the Hit Parade Hall
of Fame. Fans are the ones who nominate and then vote for singers and
groups to be inducted. The Monkees are on the 2008 list of nominees.
Please take the time to vote for the guys. Since we, the fans, are the
ones who choose who gets in there is a very real shot for us to honor
Micky, Mike, Peter, and David. Vote and spread the word! Here is the
website:

Thanks,
Tina
