Monkees/Hendrix Celebrated on MTV…
On Saturday night, June 27, 1998, MTV’s Twisted Toon Marathon showed a
tribute to Jimi Hendrix opening for The Monkees in their “Greatest True
Facts in Rock n’ Roll History” segment. The cartoon was named “Monkees
Fans Boo Jimi Hendrix” and showed Hendrix playing & setting his guitar
on fire, while freckle- & pimple-faced kids taunted him & held “I love
Davy” signs. Backstage, a poster of The Monkees was shown with cartoon
images of the guys.
The marathon is continued on Sunday, June 28, 1998 on MTV, starting at
1PM (est).

Subject: UK Convention
Hi!
Thought we would share this with you all,
The Monkees UK Fan Club Convention went off really well on 27 June at the Barking Function Suite in Barking Essex.
It went from 10 am until 11pm.
150 Monkee fans came and watched videos on a giant screen. They saw The Frodis Caper, The Christmas Show, and the Monkees Live at Wembley 1997 and Peter Tork Live at the LA convention 97.
Live entertainment came from The Shorty Blackwells, The Graduates and all the way from America came Scott Ringle (him of the Third National Band fame) He went down a storm with fans asking for autographs and pictures. Brian Owen accompanied him.
Stalls were selling rare Monkee memorabilia, 1997 UK Tour posters, records, etc etc.
A great time was had by all.
Cheers
Kirk & Sue

Do we have any more bids??
I’ve seen the box set for lower than that. At The Duffel Bag
(http://www.duffelbag.com) it’s $282.99 minus shipping and handling. I don’t
think it’s too much more with it.
Bye for now!

I got my box set for $220 at a store called Toones in Allentown, PA. I don’t
live there, but they shipped it to me for I think $5. I’m not sure if it was
just a sale or not, but it’s worth checking out.

Yes, it is available at CDnow {www.cdnow.com} for only
$305.99 and with this 20% off url {see below}, the price comes down to
$248.78. I bought one last Friday for this low low price; but the discount
will not last forever! Also the Music Boulevard.Com price was a sale price
that ended at midnight on June 29th. So take advantage of CDnow’s price.
Even without the 20% off discount, their price is still better than Music Blvd
and way way better than Rhino!! Good Luck, Tina.
