Michael Nesmith can be seen in the front row of tables at the AFI Awards
ceremony tonight on CBS TV – many of you on the west coast may still be
able to catch it. He is seated with his “Videoranch Foreman” Victoria on
the left. He can be seen very well after the award for best comedy series
is presented, and is interviewed on camera.

Any company would be lucky to have a chairman of the
board
(http://www.molecularelectronics.com/html/mnesmith.html)
like Molecular Electronics’. A successful businessman,
he created the original format of MTV, and founded and
ran the largest non-theatrical video catalog and
company in the world (now PBS Home Video). He has also
had critical and popular success in the world of
entertainment, even winning the first Grammy given for
a video. But you’ll probably just recognize him as a
Monkee.

there was a very brief monkees article in UK tabloid ‘the daily star’ today.
‘Monkees in booze bust-up’
Sixties pop idols the Monkees have split…AGAIN. Bass player Peter Tork,
59, has quit because of huge bust-ups with his boozy bandmates.
Tork, a recovering alcoholic, said; “I always loved the work onstage – I
just couldn’t handle the backstage problems”
The fun-loving four-piece, whose hits include I’m A Believer and Last Train
To Clarksville, made a lucrative comeback tour last year before band members
Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones and Mike Nesmith hit the bottle.
contributor’s note – i haven’t seen the National Enquirer article but i
guess this is taken from there? the daily star doesn’t let ‘facts’ get in
the way of telling a story (-:

Hi Brad,
I found this page when looking to info on some one else.
http://us.imdb.com/PeopleNews/#2
It includes other links and one small picture of Peter and it reads:
Monkees Split In Bitter Battle
A vicious feud has torn apart The Monkees – and member Peter Tork has been
booted from the reunited legendary 1960s group in a nasty bust-up over the
other members’ drinking. And while Peter is sad to leave the group, he
doesn’t miss the behind-the-scenes fighting that destroyed the band. He
says, “Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones fired me just before the last two shows
of our 35th anniversary tour. I’m both happy and sad over the whole thing.
I always loved the work onstage – but I just couldn’t handle the backstage
problems. I’d given them 30 days notice that I was leaving so my position
is that I resigned first and then they dropped me. Thank God I don’t need
The Monkees anymore.” The other Monkees say they ordered Tork to take the
last train to Clarksville after the 59-year-old performer threatened to
quit once too often. Tork said his problem with Davy and Micky on the tour
was their drinking – which led to nasty fights. He admits, “I’m a
recovering alcoholic and haven’t had a drink in several years. I’m not
against people drinking – just when they get mean and abusive. I went on
the anniversary tour with the agreement that I didn’t have to put up with
drinking and difficult behavior offstage. When things weren’t getting
better, I gave the guys notice that I was leaving in 30 days for good.”

How do you get a ticket to this raffle? It’s simple and free and will only
require a few minutes of your time. There is a new person to person payment
service (similar to Paypal.com) which very much wants you to sign up, so
much so that they are offering you $10 to open your account. They also pay
me a fee for referring you to them.
It’s called C2it and it is operated by Citibank, one of the largest banks
in the country. There will be a sign-up screen which will ask for some
personal information, but they use all of the most advanced security tools
to make sure your information remains private in their system, none of it
comes to me.
All you need to do is click this link:
http://www.qksrv.net/click-913436-3370184
Sign up for the service, then the $10 balance will be added to your account
within 2 days. When it arrives click “Send Cash” and send $1 from your
balance to this e-mail address:
Then you can do what you want with the remaining $9 in the account,
transfer it to your bank, withdraw via check, pay it to someone else, use
it for eBay auction payments, send it to me (if you are feeling
particularly generous!), whatever you like. Each $1 entry will buy one
ticket to win the raffle. Overseas readers may be able to use the service –
we will ship the prize anywhere – check the web page for details on
supported countries.
You can use this service to send last minute payments for Christmas
presents to friends as well! It’s totally free to use, no service charges
or fees on sending or receiving money within the USA.
If you cannot use the c2it service because you live outside the USA, or you
are under 18 years old, please use paypal.com to e-mail raffle purchases to
the e-mail listed above. If this does not work for you, you can mail a
check to this address:
