‘Simpsons’ Mike Reiss, ‘Monkees’ Micky Dolenz and ‘Three’s Company’ Joyce DeWitt talk About Humor, “Comedy Is Hard” at Ivoryton Playhouse
Comedy is not always a laughing matter.
But then again, sometimes it is. At least when you’re talking with some professionals who know their way around a yuck.
There’s Mike Reiss, a Bristol native, who is also a producer/writer of “The Simpsons,” among other comedic credits. There’s Joyce DeWitt, who starred in one of TV’s most popular sitcoms, “Three’s Company. There’s Micky Dolenz, who gave a devilish dash to the pop group “The Monkees,’ as well as the quartet’s own ’60s sitcom and a slew of stage comedies.
They were gathered around a table in a sunny rehearsal hall recently to discuss Reiss’s latest play, “Comedy Is Hard,” which premieres at the Ivoryton Playhouse, staged by its artistic director Jacqueline Hubbard.
