Make sure the band approves of the venues you book for them….

The Monkees announced earlier today that they will be canceling the remaining nine dates on their U.S. tour.

Now they are placing the blame, and according to drummer/ lead vocalist Micky Dolenz, “Management had booked a number of dates with the venues without running them by the group first … so we had to cancel the remaining dates.”

His rep added: “Micky is disappointed but his solo tour is still going strong for the rest of the year.”

However, rumors have been swirling that the tour was stopped because Dolenz checked himself into rehab. The rep dismisses that by saying: “It has nothing to do with any sort of substance abuse whatsoever.”

When the man who booked the tour was questioned, the company replied that he “no longer works here anymore.”

Go to http://rantingravingblog.blogspot.com/ to see what I believe happened. I bet that they believed they were going to be paid at the same rate that they were paid at the earlier dates during the later dates, and when they found out that they weren’t, it gave them an “out” to the tour. In other words, there were other problems, even during a profitable tour, that existed, but this gave them an out.
